Ready to go MAD?
The Modern Atlanta Dance Festival (MAD), created by Full Radius Dance in 1995, is an annual event celebrating the diversity and excellence of Atlanta's modern dance scene. MAD provides audiences with high quality, entertaining and engaging dance, bringing together diverse artists from all over our city. Through the years, over sixty different companies and individual artists have appeared at the festival!
And Full Radius Dance listens to those artists and our audiences. We conducted a survey after the 2012 Festival and were told that we should return to an in-town location. We are excited to announce that on May 17 & 18, 2013, MAD will be presented at West Midtown's Fabrefaction Theatre.
Festival participants are selected through a curatorial process overseen by Full Radius Dance artistic director Douglas Scott. He will review applications and support materials and select companies/artists to be invited into the festival.
The companies/artists, in addition to having their work produced in a professionally appointed theatre with a professional technical crew, will be compensated financially. Thanks to a successful fundraising campaign through Power2Give, a stipend will be offered.
Eligibility:
Artists and/or companies based in the metropolitan Atlanta area are eligible to apply for the festival. Artists/companies are responsible for any travel costs incurred. Works must be appropriate for all ages, and must be choreographed and performed at a professional level. Only one work will be accepted per artist or company, and works or excerpts of works must be under 14 minutes in length. A supporting video is required and it is strongly recommended that it include part or all of your proposed work.
The 2013 MAD Festival will feature the following artists:
- SWADanceCollective
- Zoetic Dance Ensemble
- Rule of Three Productions
- T. Lang Dance
- Full Radius Dance
Congratulations to the selected artists, and please join us for the festival May 17th & 18th: Get tickets now.
